Top Notch Training for Civilian & Law Enforcement Professionals
PTTC is offering a 16-hour critical incident training course designed to address the threat of an active shooter and other violent incidents in federal, local, and state buildings. This course will consist of classroom and hands-on tactical training. Officers will be introduced to the use of simulations. PTTC instructors will teach students how to effectively contain hallways, rooms, and stairwells, coordinate team movement, and make sound tactical decisions. Real-world techniques will be imparted by PTTC’s certified active shooter instructors, who are accredited by several active shooter training agencies across the USA.
Learn from a PTTC Active Shooter Instructor who served as a team leader for ERT (SWAT) during the 2009 Holocaust shooting and is a subject matter expert in Active Shooter Training and Response Techniques. Participants will gain skills in demonstrating proper weapons discipline, containing, arresting, and confronting (using lethal force) in an active shooter situation. Emphasis will be placed on proper teamwork, movement, overwatch, and hand signals. It is well-known that the actions of officers during a critical incident can save lives and help to minimize collateral damage while waiting for responding law enforcement. Statistically, once shooting begins, a life is lost every 15 seconds, making it imperative for officers to act swiftly when implementing their response.
In most cases, when confronted, the active shooter either surrenders or takes their own life. These skill sets, combined with basic firearm knowledge, can serve as effective survival tactics.
During this 16-hour course of instruction, officers will receive presentations on incidents such as Columbine High School and the Holocaust shooting, featuring PSO, LEO, and SWAT operators who responded to those events. Participants will hear firsthand about the successes and failures of each incident and the lessons learned. The course also includes informative presentations on the history and dynamics of school shootings, basic firearms, lockdown procedures, and the importance of building relationships with local law enforcement.
